1959 Villager wagon

This Edsel Villager wagon is one of 5,687 built for the 1959 model year and is finished in Jet Black and Snow White two tone with a Snow White top. The car was acquired by its current owner from Texas in October 2021. The original 332 CID V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a 2-speed automatic transmission with a 3.10:1 differential. The Edsel is offered by its current owner with a clear California title and comes with reproduction black and yellow Ca plates with showing 59 ED5EL. The odometer shows app. 96,000 miles and is believed to be accurate.

Work performed under previous ownership includes power front disc brake conversion from stock and the addition of custom wheels as shown in the photos. The complete set of original Edsel hub caps is included with the car if you want to revert back to steel wheels. New upper and lower A arms and new bushings were installed along with shocks on all 4. The exterior light bulbs including headlights, turn and stop bulbs have all been converted to LED. The current owner believes the car has been repainted long ago and shows ageing but shows quite well. The chrome is in very good condition with minor scrapes on the rear bumper thought to be from when someone tried to remove stickers. All other chrome and trim is in very good to excellent condition.

The interior of the car is in excellent condition based on the age of the car. There are no tears in the seats and they still show quite well. The interior is Trim 31 of White and Red with Gold Puff Cloth. The headliner in this car is complete and in excellent shape. There are minor scrapes and marks in the cargo area. The door cards are in excellent shape with no cuts. All the glass is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and are clear as new. The sunvisors show some wear but are in good working shape. The dash has been repainted some time in the past and shows very well.

Additional work performed under current ownership includes installation of front coil springs and rear leaf springs with bushings. Also a totally new dual exhaust system from the headers was installed. The original generator was replaced with a new alternator that is made to look like the original generator to keep the looks original. The ignition was also converted to electronic to eliminate the points and condenser. In addition all new plug wires, plugs and new cap and rotor were installed. The cooling system was upgraded to a high flow aluminum radiator with high volume fan blade, new radiator and heater hoses, and thermostat.
